Description:
The Read Building required a polymer concrete face coat applied to female molds fabricated from the architect's CAD data. Face coat backed with fire retardant unsaturated polyester resin and E-Glass reinforcement. After removing the mold, the surface was sandblasted to achieve the desired stone finish.
K&A Scope:
Design fabrication means and methods to produce architect-specified architectural trim that simulates stone using thin-section polymer concrete on FRP backing. Engineer connections and flanged details to accommodate architect specifications, aesthetic requirements, and contractor installation methods.
