The first product K&A made was a series of letters for Gap Stores. Harry Murphy, one of the pioneers in the new flourishing field of environmental and graphic design, commissioned K&A to produce several three-foot tall by six inches deep letters spelling "THE GAP." Used above the sales counters in hundreds of retail stores nationwide, these molded letters introduced K&A to the signage industry. For several years, signage was our principal business. We honed our skills at moldmaking and learned how the construction industry worked while making mostly 3-D outdoor signage for a wide range of companies. Although most of our work was for two of San Francisco's most prestigious sign companies, Thomas Swan Signs and the now-extinct Pischoff Co., clients also included Bank of America, Apple Computer, Chevron USA, Pacific Telesis, and the cities of San Francisco, San Jose, San Rafael, San Leandro, and Daly City, as well as numerous other well-known clients from designers to developers.

Although K&A no longer relies on signage as our principal source of business, we still enjoy many opportunities to add our experience and craftsmanship to several unique and on-going projects.
