K&A Scope of Work: Design and fabrication of FRP replicas of terra cotta tiles.
Project Description: Several hundred of these historic terra cotta tiles were damaged during the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. K&A developed replicas in fiberglass that matched the original glazed terra cotta and also provided an unbreakable alternative. Now in an earthquake the FRP replicas will deflect but will not break off. The seven- pound FRP components replace terra cotta pieces weighing 130 pounds each.
