K & A Nasu Highlands Theme Park

Client: TOWA-Nasu Resort Company, Ltd.
Contractor: TOWA Real Estate Developments Co.
Architect: ED-2 International, SWA Group Landscape Architects
Engineer: Juri Komendant
Designer: Stanley Wong
Location: Nasu Highlands, Japan

K&A Scope of Work: Design of structural components, molds, fabrication, painting, installation supervision.

Project Description: The Jukebox's structural steel frame was designed by K&A and fabricated on site by the Japanese amusement park client in the Nasu Highlands park. Meanwhile, K&A designed and fabricated the FRP cladding components which made up this 36 ft tall jukebox entry arch. All pieces fit into 40 ft containers and were assembled at the jobsite in Japan over a 10 day period. K&A provided one installation supervisor; all other work was done by local crews.

The shapes of the molded FRP icons for the Rock 'N Roll Plaza were generated from 2-D art by ED-2 International (Stanley Wong designer) and SWA Group Landscape Architects. The icons, ice cream and coke bottles are made from FRP with automotive urethane coating. The Gas Station Attendant is also located within the park, visible to the left of the Jukebox in the top photo.
